Web 2.0 tool

The web 2.0 tool I will use most in the future will probably be prezi or google presentantion. I said or because it depends on the work and I'm having trouble picking between the two. I like prezi as an individual working on a project, and I like google presentation when it comes down to group work. The reason I picked these two over the rest is because I have a lot of projects in the near future and these tools were straight forward and simple to use. I loved how the slides worked on prezi I thought it was creative to build a slide in a slide, and I loved being able to change the path of my work. Google presentation caught my eye because I could see my partners work and she could see mine. I liked the fact that we could communicate through the project and work on it at the same time. I would have liked wikispaces if I did not have so much trouble with it. I liked the concept of the wiki and I might try again one day but I’m not sure as of now. I liked pintrest more so to watch post than to actually post. I may get on to look around but I cannot say for sure.. Blogging was fun but if I did use it in the future it would not be for me to post it would be for me to give my students topics and read them like weekly journal entries. I did not really use twitter anymore before the class so I do not think I will use it after the class. I’m more into Instagram it's like twitter and pintrest combined to me.

Here is a website with web 2.0 tools that I believe you should check out.

Assessment

Assessment is very important in teaching. Assessment to me is the process used to determine where a student is in that point in time in their education.  It’s a way to see whether they are ahead, behind, or right on target.   A student is assessed by gathering, analyzing, and interpreting through test where a child is in their class, and then the information is used to increase the students learning and development.   Assessment can be divided into two type’s formal and informal assessment.   Formal assessment is known as standardize assessment which is graded while informal assessment is known as alternative assessment and is not graded it is designed by the teacher to see where the students are and if they are learning. Assessments can be very useful when done properly and at the appropriate time. It is important to make sure that the students are learning from the lessons that they are taught.  The more the teacher checks the students’ progress the more they understand what the student knows and doesn’t know. Since the teacher is held accountable for the students learning it is their responsibility to assess the students informally through chapter quizzes and short assignments. The teacher needs to be sure that the students are ready and able to pass any formal assessment and that they are learning and retaining the proper information correctly. After the assessment the teacher can see where exactly the child is struggling and pin point those areas individually with the child.  If the class assessment comes back where most of the class does not understand a certain section the teacher can try a different approach to the information and go over the whole lesson again to make sure the class is understanding it so when they are assessed again the results turn out that everyone has learned the lesson and is ready to move on.  Moving forward as a class is easier than moving forward individually.  The teacher should help the children set goals to encourage them along the way. Setting goals can be individually and as a class. The teacher should give a class assessment along with individual assessments to chart and put on file.  This will help the students and the teacher.
Here is a good website that answers questions about assessment.

The Present

The Present by Spencer Johnson was a great book. The main points that the book talked about are to stay in the present, to use your mistakes and information you obtained from your past to better your present, and use your present wisely to create a better future. I believe these points are very useful in life.  The book also speaks on finding your purpose in life. Living with a purpose is very important if you are not working towards something or living for something you have no plan in life. I completely agree with the book I personally believe staying in the present is the best way to live, if you live in the present you will be more focused and appreciate life more. As adults we have more responsibility but we should not stress ourselves to the point of unhappiness. I believe unhappiness comes from focusing too much on the past or the future. The reason that I think The Present by Spencer Johnson is great because everyone can apply what he says in the book in different ways to their own life and it will help them. I like the book because the book is not directed at any specific group the information that the book shares is great and everyone can take out of the book exactly what you need. This book can help everyone in their own way and I believe everyone who has read The Present should share what they learned.

This article has great tips on living in the present and is a good read if you a intrested on changing your life for the better.

First Impressions

Impressions can make or break interviews and relationships. You have just a few moments to make a good first impression and it's very difficult to ever change it. So have a solid base for making that first impression a good one.  Give each new meeting your best shot. Much of what is essential to make a good impression is common sense. Sometimes it’s not what you know but who you know so smile, be open and confident, know your audience, be a good listener, make eye contact as the other person talks, finally practice and be prepared. It takes just a brief glance, for someone to gage you when you meet for the first time. In that short time, the other person forms a judgment about you based on your appearance, your body language, your conduct, your gestures, and how you are dressed. Always try to arrive early it is much better than arriving late. Don’t rush give yourself time and account for traffic and other obstacles. Being on time is the first step in making a great first impression. If you are calm and confident, the other person will feel more at ease. Appropriate dressing helps make a good first impression physical appearance matters.
